Our Story
Republic Home was opened in 1999 with a mission to cater to design lovers seeking original stylish furniture & homewares. Since then we have become a well loved part of Auckland’s vibrant Ponsonby Road strip, moving to our present location in Pompallier Terrace in 2008.
Our shop window is an ever-changing tableau of our global travels, showcasing an array of interesting and hand-picked furniture and home accessories, from vintage and exotic through to contemporary. Globally sourced products that are unique in design or origin also reflect our design difference.
Our range is updated regularly to bring you the latest products available and our dedicated team of shop assistants have the skills to provide real service. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, we’ll go to the ends of the earth to source that special piece guaranteed to add magic to your home.
At Republic Home we are very conscious about the environment and our choice of products relect this. In our furniture ranges recycled timbers are often used such as in our boatwood, reclaimed railway sleeper or New York Loft ranges, or in our FSC-certified teak range. We also do a contemporary range of furniture based on solid mango wood, harvested from sustainably-managed forests. Our sourcing of vintage furniture and handicraft items, is with an emphasis on finding original and authentic old pieces that truly display the craftsperson's skills in producing a functional piece, rather than a reproduction of the original.
We believe that it’s the mix of accessories that really make a home, so we offer textiles and cushions, ceramics and glassware, ornamental features, fragrant candles and diffusers, and other highly giftable items alongside our exclusive furniture ranges.
