The story

Republic Home was opened in 1999 by Peter Reid and Graham Dickie, on a mission to cater to design lovers seeking original stylish homewares. Since then we have become a well loved part of Auckland’s vibrant Ponsonby Road strip, moving to our present location in Pompallier Terrace.

Our shop window is an ever-changing tableau of our travels around the globe. Bringing back with us an array of interesting and hand-picked furniture and home accessories from vintage and exotic through to contemporary. Our range is updated regularly to bring you the latest products available and our dedicated team of shop assistants have the skills to provide real service. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, we’ll go to the ends of the earth to source that special piece guaranteed to add magic to your home.

In 2011 Peter and Graham handed over the reins of Republic Home to David Peez, who shares the founders' ethos in sourcing special pieces for your home.  David has spent most of his working life abroad, having travelled the world extensively and living for 17 years in the UK, Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Bahrain. In a professional career that included stints as a Strategy Consultant, Banking Change Manager & Corporate Financier, David continued to travel to exotic locations to source tribal carpets and handicrafts that he sold from his home in his spare time. When returning to NZ, David decided the time was right to combine his passions for furnishings and interior design, and travelling to source those special things that make a home a home.
